I wish I could say I put a hundred and ten percent when writing my piece. However, unfortunately, I was so wrapped up in the embarrassment of how I would have to share this piece with my peers my mind turned stagnant and I ended up having to rush through everything to get it finished by the due date. My anxiety ended up taking over my emotions which is something I’ll have to work on overcoming for future works.

Let’s start off with Sam Watson-Tayler’s piece. It really delved into a similar theme the video game itself did, humanity, how much are you willing to sacrifice for your own survival? It’s a harrowing theme to say the least. The irony of trying to retain your empathy in a world where killing is daily is highly apparent in this piece of fiction and to be put on someone so young just amplifies great discomfort.

Moving onto Sarah Tribble’s work. It’s, unfortunately, a common misconception that Ron and Hermione had a terrible relationship, and while I hold no ill will to anyone who doesn’t ship Ron and Hermione together (Believe me, I’m with you.) I do become a little perturbed when they seem to rely on the films horrible characterisations rather than the books themselves, but I’m not here to argue that. I absolutely loved how smooth the writing was, I thought to myself if the novels were from Hermione’s point of view this is how it would flow, it really felt like I was actually reading Hermione’s thoughts.

And finally, Ella-Maree Fairweather’s writing. It’s a little funny and slightly jarring having only recently started reading the original Pride and Prejudice novel, while never having heard anything about Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I cannot pretend to be an expert in Pride and Prejudice though I will say, Mary always intrigued me out of the five Bennet sisters, she’s the very youngest of the five, and seemingly her only personality trait is ‘shy,’ so seeing her in such a very different light, where she’s not only the main character but far more high-minded and pertinacious was a pleasant change of pace.
